Today’s application shows an original and space-saving solution in the kitchen: a spice rack with a knife board.
Spice rack with a knife board
For my project, I used approximately 30 (QM-60x15x05-N) 60.0 x 15.0 x 5.0 mm N40 nickel blockmagnets.
Using a router, I milled a 15 mm wide groove into the center of the oak board from the back. This leaves only about 2 mm of wood to the front surface.
The block magnets were inserted. The back of the groove was completely closed with a wooden strip.
A square piece of wood serves as a connection to the wall and supports the spice jars.
Due to the strong magnetic force of the blockmagnets, the magnetic flux penetrates the 2 mm of wood.
The knives adhere to the „magnetic wood.“
Why do you need neodymium block magnets?
Neodymium block magnets are suitable for a wide variety of applications.
Most of our neodymium block magnets have the north and south poles located on the two large, opposite surfaces.
Like our neodymium discmagnets, these blocks also fall into the category of „super neodymium magnets.“
With our large selection, you’re sure to find the right magnet for your needs.
The smallest models are no larger than a pencil tip – 3 x 1 x 1 mm – and can hold a weight of 150 g.
For heavy objects, magnetic blocks are available in sizes up to 100 x 100 x 30 mm. These can easily support weights of up to 350 kg.
We also carry block magnets with holes and countersunk holes in our shop.
